Bicycle, made for use by parachute troops in World War II
Add to album

This B.S.A. Airborne Forces lightweight folding bicycle was designed to be dropped by parachute or hang by rope from the parachutist himself. It was used during World War II, most notably during the Arnhem campaign, and dates from around 1942.

The bicycle is painted in khaki colours with a B.S.A. trademark on the vertical centre tube and '(PA)T No S43076, REGD DGN No 838413' on headstock. The frame folds about a vertical line at approximately half length. The front sprocket legs form the word B.S.A. and the leather saddle is a 'B.S.A. MODEL NUMBER 40'.
