Candlestick

This glass candlestick was designed by Per Lutken and made in 1964 by Holmegaards Glassworks of Fensmark in Denmark.

The turquoise candlestick has a solid cylindrical base. The design is called 'Blue lagoon'. The candlestick bears the marks 'HOLMEGAARD' and 'R'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
