This Monart glass decanter was made around 1930 at Moncrieff Glassworks in Perth.

The decanter is made of transparent mottled red, blue and white glass.

In 1922, the Ysart family of glassmakers, originally from Barcelona, were approached by a representative of John Moncrieff's Glassworks in Perth and spent the next two years there producing laboratory wares. In 1924, the firm introduced Monart ware as a decorative sideline. The name Monart was derived from the first three letters of Moncrieff and the last three letters of Ysart. In 1930 the name was changed to Monart glass. Production of Monart ware stopped in 1962 when the firm decided to concentrate again on laboratory ware. In 1963 Paul Ysart joined Caithness Glass Ltd in Wick where he worked until 1970 when he set up his own paperweight studio.
