Jug

This maiolica jug was made in Rome in Italy in 1871. It was painted by Torquato Castellani.

The jug is painted in polychrome with a portrait medallion of a youth in late 15th century costume. It is inscribed 'Dum Spiro Spero' ['whilst I breathe I hope'], 'TC' and '1871'.
