Photograph (2 of 5), of attaching an arrowhead to an arrow

This photograph shows an early stage in attaching a stone arrowhead to the wooden arrow shaft.

In this photograph the stone arrowhead has been inserted into the grooved shaft. The arrow maker carefully checks the fit and balance.

Modern attempts to duplicate the skills and objects of early people have led to increased understanding - and respect - for their methods. Such reconstructions also help archaeologists interpret the discovered remains.
