Bowl

This earthenware bowl with concentric bands of bird motifs and foliated Kufic calligraphy comes from East Persia, and dates to the 10th century.

The bowl is painted in brown slip against a white slip under a transparent lead glaze stained yellow in parts. The design has concentric bands of bird motifs and foliate Kufic calligraphy.
