This photograph shows Dane Love manufacturing a shepherd's crook in his Ayrshire workshop.

The photograph shows Dane attaching the hazel shank to the carved ram's horn crook.

Blackface ram's horn is the best to work with for crookmaking. The horn is trimmed before being boiled and heated to make it pliable. It is then shaped with a rasp before being finished off with sandpaper.
