This compote was made by the Steuben Division of Corning Glass Works in Corning in the United States of America. It was designed Frederick Carder around 1930.

The compote is made of clear colourless glass with mica-flecked decoration.

Born in Kingwinford in Staffordshire in 1863, Carder joined Stevens and Williams of Brerley Hill when he was 17. In 1903, he founded the Steuben Glass Works in Corning in New York, which he managed until 1932.
