This earthenware miniature teapot was made at Belfield's Pottery at Prestonpans in East Lothian. It dates from the second half of the 19th century.

The teapot is covered with a translucent brown glaze. The sides of the body are moulded with panels of vertical flutes.

Belfield's Pottery was established by Charles Belfield in the mid-1830s. By the mid-19th century the pottery was employing between 20 and 40 people. The business remained a family concern and continued until the mid-20th century. Belfield's is best known for high quality earthenware, particularly its Rockingham teapots and coffee pots, maiolica ware and everyday kitchen ware.
