Figure, of goat
Add to album

This glazed and painted earthenware figure of a goat was possibly made at one of the potteries in Prestonpans in East Lothian. It dates from the early 19th century.

The goat stands on a rocky base.

The Gallatown or Fife Pottery was established around 1790. It was located to the east of the town of Kirkcaldy, in the parish of Dysart. By 1811 it was run by Andrew and Archibald Gray, before eventually being taken over by Robert Heron in the middle of the 19th century. Heron expanded the company enough to rival the Links or Kirkcaldy Pottery.
