This pudding plate was made at Watson's Pottery at Prestonpans in East Lothian. It dates from around 1820.

The centre is transfer-printed with a pattern depicting a figure leading a camel with a tent in the background. It is marked 'Watson & Co/4' on the base.

Watson's Pottery, originally known as Kirk Street Pottery, was founded by William Cadell in 1750. It was ultimately managed by Hamilton Watson until his bankruptcy in 1838.
