Finger ring, by Dorothy Hogg
Add to album

This right-handed silver and gold finger ring was made by the Scottish artist Dorothy Hogg in 1978. It formed part of the Scottish Crafts Collection, which was transferred to the National Museums of Scotland when the Scottish Craft Council was wound up.

The ring has an angled rectangular top out of which lines have been pierced. Set below these lines are gold round wires laid parallel and close together. The square shank comes from one side of the rectangular top and is joined to the diagonally opposite side.

Dorothy Hogg was born in Troon, but now lives and works in Edinburgh at the Edinburgh College of Art. Her work is noted for its understated and minimal approach in silver and gold. She has exhibited throughout the UK and abroad.
