Poster, advertising concert staged by men of 72nd Regiment (Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders)

This poster, printed on silk, advertises a concert staged by men of the 72nd Regiment (Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders) in India in 1863.

72nd Regiment of Foot - Programme printed on tussore silk, of plays produced by the regiment in India, 1863

Regiments created their own amusements to enliven the dull routine of overseas garrison life. This could lead to the discovery of new talent, such as the soldier named C. White on the bill. As well as being 'Acting Manager' for the company, he also appears to have taken all the female roles.
