This woman's dress of blue rayon crepe was made in Britain around 1947. It was produced by Peggy Page.

The dress has a utility label marked 'CC41'. This means it was made according to government regulations, using the appropriate cloth and trimming allowance.

The post-World War II period experienced a similar desire for the return to the pre-war world that had affected the early 1920s. In fashion, the rationing of cloth and ready-made clothes in Britain and many other European countries meant that the true influences of design were not able to operate. Coupons were needed, as well as money, to acquire clothes.
