This chair was made in Shetland between 1850 and 1920. It has been made from an assortment of timbers and constructed using simple socketed joints.

There are traces of blue paint on several surfaces and several joints are fixed with iron nails. Although the construction is basic, a brace has been used to create the holes in the rear of the seat which receive the back bars.
