Box

This box was made the carver John Graham (died 1926). It was made for his own family from materials left over from making a larger casket for presentation to Lord Fairfax, Admiral of the Fleet, in 1890. The timber used came from the Ravenswood Estate.

Carved wooden casket with accompanying photographs and papers

John Graham was a noted woodcarver and he carved furnishings for a number of Borders churches. The decoration of this box is in a neo-Renaissance style.
