Spearhead

This bronze spearhead was found at Ettrick Forest in Selkirkshire. It dates from between 1500 and 1150 BC. The exceptional quality of this spearhead suggests that it was a prestige weapon.

The kite-shaped spearhead has flattened loops near the base of the blade. It has half-moon perforations in the blade.

Warriors had a major social role in their society and displayed their status through fancy weapons.
