Model, of dredger

This presentation model of a dredger was built in 1906 by Lobnitz & Company, whose yard was on the White Cart River in Renfrew. The dredger was for use in the goldfields of South Africa and its buckets discharged into a revolving drum which sorted the fine material and gold.

Traditionally, shipyards would be contracted to produce for their clients a model of the ship at the same time as they were building the actual ship.
