Measure

This pewter measure for a half gill dates from the mid 19th century.

The measure has a pear-shaped body, a scroll handle and shell thumb-piece. It is stamped 'NOGGIN' and impressed with the verification mark of the city of Glasgow.

Measures such as these were tested initially by the Dean of Guild of the city to verify that they were correct. Once they had passed the test they were stamped with a verification mark.
