Two pieces of glazed floor tile from Morton Castle, Dumfries-shire, 14th - 15th century

Little is known about the history of Morton Castle. In 1369, the lands were passed to the branch of Douglases who became Earls of Morton and it was presumably this family who built most of what remains of the castle. The castle was abandoned in the 18th century.
