Figurine (upper half)

This is the upper half of a clay figurine from Pitlethie in Leuchars in Fife. It dates from the 17th century.

The figurine is wearing a ruff around the neck.

Figurines like this were manufactured in the Low Countries in the 17th century, mostly as toys. They are made from the same sort of clay as the tobacco pipes of the period.
