Add to album

This bronze belt mount was found in the field containing the ruins of Kilspindie Castle in Aberlady in East Lothian. It dates from the 14th or 15th century and was probably purely decorative, rather than functional.

The mount comprises a rod with a pierced circle.

Kilspindie or Kilspindley Castle was built in 1585, between the village of Aberlady and the shore.
