Rosette

This wrought iron rosette was made by the Edinburgh ironworks firm of Thomas Hadden. It would have been used as a decorative feature on a railing, gate or perhaps in a church.

One of 8 iron rosettes shaped as four curled petalled flowers, used for decorative features on railings, gates, and in churches, from Hadden Ironworks, Edinburgh, late 19th or early 20th century

In the late 19th and early 20th century there was a revival in the use of wrought iron for decorative architectural work. Scottish firms such as Thomas Hadden led the revival in architectural decoration, producing gates, balconies and railings.
