Balustrade panel
Add to album

A balustrade is a railing held up by small supporting posts or balusters. This wrought iron balustrade panel was made by the Edinburgh ironworks firm of Thomas Hadden. It dates from the first half of the 20th century.

The panel is lyre-shaped with decorative scrolls and leaves.

Important commissions were vital for firms like Hadden's who opened for business in 1901 at Silvermills Lane in Edinburgh. Work would be ordered by architects and private customers.
