Worktable
Add to album

This rosewood-veneered worktable was made between 1820 and 1850 by James Creighton, a cabinet maker in Dumfries, for one or both of his two daughters, Agnes and Elizabeth.

The flaps at the sides are supported by hinged brackets and the half-cylinder shaped bag of silk, which is reinforced with wooden slats, slides out.

Tables like this one were used for needlework.
