Soup or pudding plate

The blank of this semi-porcelain soup or pudding plate was made by Myott, Son and Co. of Stoke-on-Trent in the English Midlands, and decorated in 1920 by Elizabeth Amour at the Bough Pottery Studio in Edinburgh.

The plate has a pale green lustre glaze, gold swirls on the rim, and a polychrome motif of flowers outlined in gold in the centre. It is marked 'E.A', '1920', 'BOUGH', '30', 'IMPERIAL / SEMI PORCELAIN' and 'MYOTT, SON & CO /ENGLAND'.

The Bough Pottery Studio was founded in Edinburgh by Elizabeth Amour, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, in 1913. She was joined by four other members of her family in the early 1920s. The Studio continued in operation until 1942, decorating biscuit-ware blanks bought in from various factories in Scotland and England.
