The blank of this earthenware bowl was made by D. Methven and Sons at Kirkcaldy in Fife, and decorated by Elizabeth Amour at the Bough Pottery Studio in Edinburgh around 1925.

The vase is painted with fuchias in a variety of colours. 'E.H', 'BOUGH' and '7' have been painted on the vase, while 'MADE IN / SCOTLAND' has been stamped.

The Bough Pottery Studio was founded in Edinburgh by Elizabeth Amour, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, in 1913. She was joined by four other members of her family in the early 1920s. The Studio continued in operation until 1942, decorating biscuit-ware blanks bought in from various factories in Scotland and England.
