Dish

This lustre-glazed earthenware dish was made by the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd of Glasgow. It dates from the 1920s or 1930s and is decorated with a printed and painted heron, butterfly and dragonfly.

The rim has rough brush strokes of blue lustre glaze. The centre is similarly glazed in orange. The base is marked with the maker's details and the pattern name, 'San Toi'.

The Britannia Pottery Company Ltd bought over the business of Arnold J Fleming's Brittannia Pottery in 1920.
