This earthenware bowl was made by the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd of Glasgow. It dates from the 1920s or 1930s. The bowl centre has been transfer-printed with a pattern called, 'Rural England'.

The flat octagonal-shaped edge is covered with a band of large transfer-printed flowers. The base has a maker's mark of Britannia surrounded by 'Britannia Pottery Coy Ltd' and the pattern name, 'Rural England'.

The Glasgow potteries produced a wide range of wares, from high quality porcelain to the ubiquitous transfer printed earthenware. Many of them exported to all parts of the world.
