This is a cast of an unusual tailor's stone candlestick in the form of a Roman altar. From the markings, it may have belonged to a weaver or tailor. It would have been preferred for its stability and solidity, which would have lessened the danger of it being knocked over and causing fire in a workshop containing inflammable material. The original candlestick dates from 1646. It is now in Perth Museum.

The candlestick has three holes for candles in the top and a slightly larger circular depression in the centre. The four faces have `16/46' incised; a pair of scissors in relief; a tailor's goose (iron) in relief; and the initials `I A' incised.
