Candle and splint holder

This combined candle holder and splint holder dates from the 18th century. It comes from England and is made of wrought iron.

The holder has a twisted stem, the end of which is hooked over for carrying. The stem is riveted to a base which is turned up at the edges to serve as a drip tray. The base has three feet.
