Teapot, made at Kirkcaldy, Fife
Add to album

This teapot was probably made in the 1880s at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife.

The teapot is covered with a red monochrome glaze. Self-coloured glazes were thought to be the earliest Weymss Ware decoration.

Heron's Fife Pottery is perhaps best known for its brightly painted, highly fashionable and expensive Wemyss Ware. Wemyss Ware continued to be produced in Kirkcaldy, by a variety of decorators, until the factory closed in 1930.
