Saut bucket, probably made in Glasgow

This salt bucket marked the marriage of Andrew and Janet Boswell in 1854. The bucket was probably made by Caledonia Pottery in Glasgow.

The salt glazed bucket is embellished with sprigged figures including 'Kirkton Jean' from Robert Burns' poem 'Tam O'Shanter', and acanthus leaves, vine leaves, bunches of grapes and Bacchic masks. It is impressed 'Andrew & Janet Boswell 1854'.
