This is the obverse of a 1796 copper halfpenny trade token of Dundee in Angus. The token was manufactured by Kempson and designed by James Wright Junior. The die-sinker was Wyon.

The obverse depicts Dundee Infirmary, founded in 1794

Ten hundredweight of tokens representing the Infirmary were struck. Trade tokens varied in quality from crude lead discs stamped with initials to elaborate pieces of craftwork from the die-sinkers with vivid depictions of industrial or commercial scenes.
