Parian ware vase

This parian ware vase was made by the Glasgow potters J. and M.P. Bell around 1851. It is a copy of the Warwick Vase, now in the Burrell Collection in Glasgow.

Copy of the Warwick vase, exhibited at the Great Exhibition, 1851, made by J. and M.P. Bell and Co., Glasgow

Parian ware is white unglazed ceramic, initially called 'statuary porcelain' as it successfully imitated marble.
