Slingshot

This clay slingshot was found at the site of the Roman fort at Ardoch in Perthshire. It was used with a small hand-held sling sometime between 80 and 165 AD.

Clay slingshot from Ardoch, Perthshire, 80 - 180 AD

As well as being well organised and well equipped, Roman soldiers had several other advantages over the natives in battle. They had artillery and other weapons unknown to the natives.
