From Luce Sands, Wigtownshire

This bronze chisel was found as a stray find at Luce Sands in Wigtownshire, one of thousands of objects found in the sandhills of Glenluce. It was a tool used for fine shaping of wood sometime between 2100 and 1600 BC.
The chisel is slender and tapering, rectangular in section, and with a narrow, curving blade. It is well preserved.
This was a specialist woodworking tool, and is likely to have been a prestigious and valuable item. At least one other chisel has been found in association with Bronze Age cremation burials in urns, so it is assumed that this dates to the same period.
