From Talisker Moor, Skye

This wooden bowl was found on Talisker Moor on Skye. It was carved sometime between 15 and 385 AD from a single piece of alder from a tree around 30 cm in diameter.

The incomplete oval round-bottomed bowl, pictured here tilted with its belly uppermost, has perforated vertical handles. The outside is ornamented with decorative.
