Hobble

A hobble is a restraint to hold an animal's legs. This wooden example was found at White Moss at West Linton in Peeblesshire. It was used sometime between 544 and 690 AD.

Many specialised tools were developed over the centuries to aid in managing animals. Some are little different from those in use today.
