Wemyss ware jug
This Wemyss ware jug was made between 1890 and 1920 at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife.
The jug is hand-painted with a design based on the formal gardens at Earlshall Castle in Fife.
Earlshall Castle was the home of R W R Mackenzie, a successful merchant. He held fairs in aid of local charities at the castle, and the Fife Pottery produced a series of Wemyss designs for sale at these fairs.
