Add to album

This panelled Weymss ware vase was made between around 1883 and 1916 at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife. It was painted by Karel Nekola, a Czech who arrived in Kirkcaldy in 1883.

The vase is decorated with chinoiserie figures.

Heron's Fife Pottery is perhaps best known for its brightly painted, highly fashionable and expensive Wemyss Ware. The characteristic freely-painted decoration was introduced by Karel Nekola.
