Souvenir mug from the Edinburgh International Exhibition

This porcelain mug commemorates the Edinburgh International Exhibition of 1886. It was made in Germany and probably decorated as a souvenir at the exhibition.

The mug is ornamented with floral decoration and inscribed 'From the Edinburgh Exhibition, 1886'.

Edinburgh hosted international exhibitions in 1886 and 1907, and Glasgow in 1888 and 1901. These were large events where Scottish produce, from railway engineering to pottery, vied with international exhibits.
