Gold badge of the Edinburgh International Exhibition

This gold badge was the official badge of the Edinburgh International Exhibition of 1886.

The badge is engraved with 'EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION 1886' and 'PATRON, HER MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTY QUEEN VICTORIA'.

Edinburgh hosted international exhibitions in 1886 and 1907, and Glasgow in 1888 and 1901. These were large events where Scottish produce, from railway engineering to pottery, vied with international exhibits.
