This is the obverse of a silver medal of Selkirk Grammar School in the Borders. The medal was presented in 1827 to Elizabeth MacKenzie for English composition.

The inscription on the obverse reads 'Adjudged to Miss Eliz, MacKenzie for excellence in English composition by the Trustees of the late Mr. Oliver'.
