Communion cup

This silver communion cup from Ellon Kirk in Aberdeenshire was made in 1642 by Walter Melville, a goldsmith in Aberdeen. Given to the church in 1642 by John Middleton, burgess of Aberdeen, the cup is a copy of one made in Amsterdam.

The beaker-shaped cup is engraved with birds and foliage.
