Medal (reverse), commemorating Adam Smith

This is the reverse of a bronze medal, dated 1787, commemorating Adam Smith.

Bronze medal of Adam Smith on his death, 1787

Smith introduced the idea of a 'division of labour'- i.e. goods could be made more quickly if each worker specialised on a specific part of the process rather than the whole.
