Silver medal commemorating Corri's New Rooms, Edinburgh

This is the obverse of a silver medal commemorating 'Corri's New Rooms', a theatre in Edinburgh's Broughton Street opened by Italian Natali Corri, where music lovers could meet and enjoy concerts. The medal was made by Alexander Spence in 1776.

The obverse is inscribed 'CORRI'S NEW ROOMS/ No. 4. / N.CORRI'S'. The reverse is blank.

The influence of Italian composers and musicians such as Corri was strong in 18th-century Edinburgh.
