Telescope
This brass telescope dates from around 1855. It was retailed by Paul Cameron and John Blakeney, scientific instrument makers based in Glasgow.
The hand-held refracting telescope has three draws and a leather-covered barrel. It is engraved on the first draw tube 'Cameron & Blakeney./Glasgow'.
Cameron and Blakeley were related by marriage. They traded together at 76 Great Clyde Street (1853-5), 102 Great Clyde Street (1855-9) and at 94-6 Jamaica Street until the partnership ended in 1860. Each then set up independently.
