From Dunadd, Argyll

Arrowhead
Add to album

This iron arrowhead was found at the site of the royal hillfort of Dunadd in Argyll. It was used sometime between 400 and 900 AD.

The socketed arrowhead is long and leaf-shaped.

Bows and arrows were used for both hunting and fighting. The bows and arrow shafts, however, rarely survive.
