This bronze strap fitting for a horse harness was found at the important native hillfort site of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It was used sometime between 0 and 200 AD.

The six-lobed fitting is perforated in the centre and has a rectangular loop at the back. The design may be an adaptation of a Roman type of glass bead.

A range of harness equipment has been found at Traprain Law. The leather rarely survives, but the metal fittings and ornaments are often preserved. They come in many forms, some quite elaborate and decorative.
